Will your training allow me to start working as an Intimacy Coordinator?Sure thing! We offer the minimum hours as a SAG/AFTRA accredited training center. What is unique about IPEC is we not only offer the minimum hours that includes labs, simulation work, choreography, & in person workshops, we then offer continued education & mentorship to help you grow as an Intimacy Professional. We not only want you to have the minimum, but we want you to keep growing so your feel your metaphorical tool bag is ready for any situation. So yes, we make sure you meet the requirements. And yes, that means you can work. And yes, we can have your back.

For certification, do you take hours from other courses & expertise? That is what is so cool about training with IPEC because indeed we do. We understand movement professionals, teaching artists, filmmakers, actors, anti-racist educators & professionals, & more come to the work with a wide expertise that we want to support. Our goal at IPEC is to help you translate your past work for this specific work & help you on your specific path. Our class system is module based & our online labs is an opportunity to put what you already know into practice. We also prioritize one on one and in person work, so we get to know you better & hopefully give quality guidance. With previous expertise and learning, we will use some lab hours to assess understanding with being an IP. If additional learning is needed, we can assess at that time. If you want to see how we can best serve you, email us at intimacyprofessionals@gmail.com

Can in person workshop hours count towards accrediting hours with IPEC?Sure thing! Also depending on the workshop and the focus for what hours they count for in the modules. For example, a choreography based in person workshop, will count towards your learning and labs for accreditation. That being said, in person workshops are also continuing education. In the arts, we often don't have to prove continued learning, but continued learning in a workshop setting means community building and spark lighting.

Accreditation vs CertificationWhat a novel question!! And it's so nuanced that we haven't fully landed one the answer. IPEC is accredited via SAG/AFTRA based on standards the IC community has created with the union. For more on that, please visit our Resources page. There are no current guild or union standards for ID work. Certification is the process of attesting to one's level of achievement. How do we do this in the most transparent way as possible? How do we set those standards when we as a company accept a great many past experiences and trainings? We are still exploring. Stay tuned.
